You're welcome.

I always cringe when I see Pete getting rough on his Les Pauls though.

Given the value of those guitars in "todays" dollars....I bet he DOES now too.

I AM GRATEFUL TO Accept THIS ON Record!! (In analogue)

One of the best songs from one of the best albums from the 1970's--"Won't Get Fooled Over again"

When the anthology "Who's Next" was released it was but the year previous that I had seen the group in concert for the commencement fourth dimension while afterwards that summer I had picked upwards on their alive recording "Live At Leeds."

Dude111 is right. Lots of emotions of the human condition come into play here; anger, humor, passion, and more. Lots of things make this album very noteworthy but I'll discuss just a few. Keith Moon stepped up and went steroid bonkers with those drumsticks. John Entwhistle played some great, great basslines. And an musical instrument that defined this album right from the get go, the synthesizer, well, information technology certainly got a conditioning here. And information technology only took a few seconds for that when you cued upward side ane of Decca DL-79182 on the turntable and listened to Baba O'Reilly which was the opening track. Pete Townshend was working on another aggressive project called Lifehouse, sort of a science fiction rock opera, if you volition, and a good share of Who's Next came from that project.

In my surface area we just had two radio stations that played rock. What I remember most about that fourth dimension was how much album exposure you would get every bit opposed to the am "height 50" stuff you grew upward listening to in the fifty'southward and 60's. Without a doubt, The Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers", The Who's "Who'due south Next", the Moody Dejection "Every Good boy deserves Favour", and Led Zeppelin's fourth anthology would meridian the list from 1971 regarding songs played on the radio. And I mean ALL the songs from those releases would go airplay. I'm sure there are more than lp's out in that location that deserve a mention hither as well.

IMO the album "Who's Adjacent" hit JACKPOT status. Their first few albums I liked a lot, Tommy I loved, and Alive At Leeds put the Who close to the superstar condition. "Who's Next" put them to the adjacent level-JACKPOT!

"Won't Get Fooled Again" is 1 of the keen songs from the 1970's; heck, equally far as that goes ane of the bang-up songs from ANY decade--fact.

What I recollect virtually virtually that time was how much album exposure you would get as opposed to the am "top 50" stuff you grew up listening to in the fifty's and 60's. Without a doubt, The Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers", The Who'south "Who'south Next", and Led Zeppelin's 4th album would tiptop the list from 1971 regarding songs played on the radio. "Won't Go Fooled Again" is one of the great songs from the 1970's-fact.

I was lucky because they had 2-3 stations that played so many songs outside the top 50. In that location were
many times they would play the whole lp. So we got to hear some great songs that were never
aired anywhere else. Remember when they said vinyl was dead, well I did proceed a few and Live at Leeds
was one of them.

Review: Five Stars *****

1 of greatest stone songs of all time.

Recorded April 1971 at Mick Jagger's land estate "Stargroves"
using a Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Unit

Legendary Glyn Johns was engineer, and with Glyn's assistance, The Who finally
was recorded properly, Kit Lambert was an OK director but no tape producer.

Pete played thru a Gretsch 6120 hollow torso electric guitar and 1959 Fender Bandmaster amp,
both given to him past Joe Walsh (as a give thanks you from Walsh, equally The James Gang was opening band
on The Who's fall 1970 tour).

Elementary melody actually, but what a sound, very powerful
I play to the record all the time for over 30 years, a fun song to play to.
Townshend doesn't over play, Entwistle is doing nearly the work!
The palatial version of Kids Are Alright DVD has a onus featire with
isolated audio (and video) track of John Entwistle, a sight to behold, amazing!

As well I find cool that the original studio version has an acoustic guitar depression in the mix,
you lot barely hear information technology just it helps the overall tone harmonics coaction with dominant electric.

The synth part is actually an organ patched thru an ARP2600, LFO modulating.

Amazing timeless song from an awesome timeless grouping, The Who,
my fave stone grouping of all fourth dimension.

Who's Next is my least favorite of the major Who albums. I accept to agree with Ohiogirl that this vocal is criminally overplayed (though nonetheless not as badly as Baba O'Reilly, which I can barely distinguish from groundwork racket.) I simply don't recall all those blocky major chords are what Pete does all-time. Tommy and Sell Out had much more intricate songwriting and ameliorate melodies - I've quipped that at that place'south more meaning in the first five seconds of "The Acid Queen" then in all of tracks 3-vii of Who's Adjacent.

Alive At Leeds of course rocks - it'south a five-star anthology if only for the rhythm section, which is simply inhuman. I've come up effectually on Quadrophenia recently - unlike Tommy, it'southward mostly merely the sum of its parts, but many of those parts are lyrically and melodically strong. (I gained a new appreciation later hearing Phish cover the unabridged album for their Halloween show. And then I put the Who's back on and realized it was even amend.) I enjoy Pete'southward get-go two solo albums a lot likewise.
